GE Profile PTWN6250M / PTWN6250MWT HydroWave Infusor washer
Connect the washer to hot and cold household water
Installation instructions identify rear fittings H (hot) and C (cold), require both household shutoff valves and specify pressure from 10 to 150 psi. For hot wash, they call for water delivered at the washer at 120–150°F. Low pressure or reversed hoses can change fill time and temperature.
PerfecTemp adjusts incoming hot/cold water toward its selected range. GE notes a COLD wash can include warm water; TAP COLD disables that adjustment for its cold selection. Follow garment labels and distinguish control behavior from a household water-heater issue.
- Match H/C rear labels to the corresponding household shutoffs.
- Open both faucets and inspect hose couplings.
- Clean inlet screens only with supply off; close lid for sensing/fill.
Identify and attach each supply
Connect hot to the port marked H and cold to C. Identify the hot faucet instead of relying only on the usual left/right convention. Use the supplied rubber washers/screens, thread without cross-threading and tighten as the installation sheet directs.
Open both shutoffs and inspect couplings for drips. The owner manual recommends new hoses and replacement every five years. Close the valve before correcting leaks; do not stretch hoses tight or leave them kinked behind the cabinet.
Check supply conditions before diagnosing fill
The installation sheet lists 10–150 psi and requires hot and cold shutoffs. Fill duration affects the estimate; the owner manual says the timer learns how long filling takes. If there is no fill, check both faucets and close the lid for automatic sensing.
The troubleshooting guide allows checking inlet screens: turn off water, disconnect hoses, gently clean visible screens with a brush or toothpick, reconnect and reopen water. If a hose is corroded or water spills uncontrollably, have a plumber/service technician do the work.
Understand PerfecTemp and TAP COLD
PerfecTemp senses incoming water and mixes hot/cold toward the selected wash temperature. During COLD, some warm water may be added to help detergent dissolve. The manual says PerfecTemp does not activate during a cold rinse; that is expected.
TAP COLD uses household tap temperature for a cold wash and turns off PerfecTemp for that selection. On HOT, the washer may periodically add cold water to optimize results. Compare the panel selection and supply connections before deciding temperature control is wrong.
Know when a supply issue needs a plumber
If one faucet has no flow, a hose is damaged, or water continues leaking after connections are corrected, stop the cycle and close the shutoff. If household hot water does not reach the installation sheet’s specified temperature, check the heater with a qualified professional rather than raising washer settings.
Do not pull the washer forward with hoses under tension. Inspect for leaks after work and keep the drain hose secured. Persistent fill issues after open valves and clear screens need service; they do not prove the inlet valve failed.
PerfecTemp can add warm water to a cold selection.
Use TAP COLD if household tap temperature is intended.
PerfecTemp is documented as inactive during cold rinse.
Treat this as expected.
Reversed hoses, shutoff or household heater may be involved.
Check H/C, open valves and heater delivery; call plumber if needed.
Common questions
Does COLD always mean only cold tap water?
No. PerfecTemp may mix warm water during COLD; TAP COLD uses household tap temperature.
What water pressure is required?
The installation sheet lists 10 psi minimum and 150 psi maximum.
