Sources, scope, and shopping

Before you order a part.

A useful suggestion tells you why a part is worth considering and what still needs checking.

What “potential replacement” means

We try to identify parts worth considering using the sources shown beside each suggestion. Compatibility, safety, performance, and a successful repair are not guaranteed. We have not inspected your appliance, diagnosed the problem, or confirmed its complete production configuration.

Manufacturer-listed accessory
The manufacturer’s page links or names this accessory for the catalog model. Your suffix, serial range, region, installed components, and any later part-number changes still need checking.
Potential replacement · partial evidence
Some suggestions use a compatibility list published by the replacement-part maker or a specialist seller. The card names that company separately from your appliance brand; its assertion is not an endorsement by the appliance manufacturer. Other cards use an explicitly named manufacturer model family and disclose the unresolved suffix or revision. The source supports a possible relationship, but leaves important details unresolved. The individual card explains the basis and the limits. A similar name, picture, or language-model prediction alone is not enough to publish a suggestion.
Official lookup
We have no current, reviewed individual suggestion. The manufacturer’s parts or support site is the next step. Opening it does not select a compatible item.

Read the label, then check the listing

  1. Record the complete model number, including any slash suffix or revision, and the serial number. Use the appliance label rather than a retail receipt’s shortened name.
  2. Compare the existing part’s manufacturer number and the documented replacements. Shape and dimensions alone may miss different connectors, seals, materials, or ratings.
  3. Ask the manufacturer or seller to check the full label and any serial restrictions. Confirm the seller’s current part number, pack quantity, return conditions, and warranty before paying.
  4. Use the instructions for the exact appliance and part. If a water filter does not seat or seal as directed, stop using it and contact support. A part suggestion does not establish that it will fix your symptom.

How we review a suggestion

We use official manufacturer pages and selected specialist-seller compatibility tables. A seller table supports a supplier-listed potential replacement and is labeled separately from manufacturer evidence. Manufacturer family patterns are matched only to concrete model identifiers; they do not create guessed models or confirm every revision. GPT-6 Luna helps extract identifiers and stated restrictions from the supplied evidence. Code checks exact identifiers, source references, seller item numbers, approved domains, and evidence dates. Specs & Parts reviews the relationship, unresolved details, and seller destination before the first publication. This workflow uses AI-assisted editorial review and has not received a technician’s compatibility certification. Language-model confidence is not compatibility evidence.

Each published card has a dated evidence record and a review deadline. A changed record, expired evidence, withdrawn offer, or editorial hold removes the individual seller card and leaves the official lookup route. Reimporting an old page does not renew its review or remove a hold. The initial workflow covers selected filters, original printer ink/toner/drum consumables, and other reviewed passive accessories; gas, mains electrical, heating, refrigerant, and safety-control parts require a separate specialist process.

Who sells the part

Specs & Parts is an independent reference. Seller links open another website, where the seller sets the price, availability, shipping, returns, and warranty terms and handles checkout. We do not display live prices or stock here. Current seller links are unpaid and earn no commission. Any future paid relationship must be disclosed beside the relevant link.

Part images

Part cards and browsing tiles show small source images of the named catalog item, its packaging, or a seller-supplied drawing, with credits and a link to the original source. The image helps identify the part; it does not confirm fit, current packaging, or stock. Compare the full part number and the seller’s current listing before ordering. Image credits and scope.

Sources and corrections

Parts cards use original factual summaries and outbound links. Limited image thumbnails are published following a U.S. fair-use assessment; we do not claim a supplier license or permission for them. Copyright remains with the rights holders. Manufacturer names and part numbers identify the products; they do not indicate sponsorship or affiliation.

Report an incorrect or unsafe suggestion, including the model and part number and the conflicting source if available. Avoid submitting your serial number, address, or payment information. Reports enter our review queue; this form is not an emergency or repair service.

These checks and disclosures reduce avoidable mistakes. They do not eliminate legal risk or override rights and obligations that apply under law.
