GE Profile PTWN6250M / PTWN6250MWT HydroWave Infusor washer
Move the washer only after preparing hoses and shipping bar
The installation instructions include a removable shipping bar and tub packing that stabilize the washer for transport. During initial installation, the yellow-handled bar is pulled out and saved; before a later move, the guide says it can be reinstalled to keep the assembly stationary.
The owner manual recommends having a service technician remove water from the drain pump and hoses for moving/storage. Avoid dragging, tipping or transporting the washer with water in the connections or the transit bar missing.
- Shut off water and unplug before moving.
- Have pump/hoses drained and reinstall saved shipping bar for transit.
- At destination remove restraints before operation and reconnect/level as instructed.
Disconnect and drain safely
Turn off both household water faucets and unplug the washer before moving it. Disconnect hoses only after shutting off water; have towels or a shallow pan ready for residual water. The manual recommends a service technician remove water from the drain pump and hoses for moving and storage.
Do not tug the washer by water/drain hoses or cord. If the route includes stairs, the appliance is full of water, or it cannot be drained without tipping, use a qualified mover or service technician.
Reinstall the shipping bar and tub packing
Retrieve the yellow-handled shipping bar saved during installation. The guide says to retain it because it can be reinstalled if the washer is moved again. It stabilizes the assembly during transit; do not transport the appliance without the restraint if the instructions call for it.
Follow the original installation illustration to reinstall the bar and any required shipping material. Do not substitute a modern GE motor or lid reset procedure. If the bar is missing or its fit is unclear, contact GE service before transport.
Protect cabinet and route
Clear and measure the route before pulling the washer out. Keep the lid closed and secure loose hoses and cord after disconnection. Use an appliance dolly and enough help to keep it upright and controlled; do not drag the cabinet across flooring.
Remove only parts identified in the product instructions. Avoid striking the control panel or bending rear connections. Store the shipping bar with the manuals so it can be found for the next move.
Prepare the destination before reconnecting
Do not store the washer where it is exposed to weather or freezing. The owner manual says to shut off water for long vacations and drain hoses if temperatures will fall below freezing. For longer storage, have the pump and hoses emptied.
At destination, remove transit restraints before operation, connect hot/cold hoses correctly, secure drain, level on a firm floor, plug into the grounded outlet, open valves and inspect for leaks.
The installation guide expects the bar retained for future moves.
Contact GE service for transit-restraint guidance before transporting.
Transport can spill water or expose the washer to freezing damage.
Have residual water removed before loading or storage.
Water in hoses can freeze and damage installation.
Use protected location and drain hoses per manual.
Common questions
Should I reinstall the shipping bar?
Yes. The install sheet says to keep it for reinstallation when moving the washer.
Can I store it in an unheated garage?
Not if it may freeze or be exposed to weather; the owner manual warns against both.
