Samsung documents Standard, Optimized, and Amplify sound modes on many TVs and smart monitors. Amplify emphasizes mid/high tones; Standard is balanced, while Optimized applies Samsung’s processing. These choices affect listening preference, not a repair. If sound is routed to external speakers, some built-in settings may be unavailable. Check the model menu and speaker output before changing an equalizer or resetting sound settings.
Samsung QN55S95FAF lists 2160 pixels native vertical resolution. That is the height in pixels. Compare the source device’s output and the display’s supported input timings; the vertical figure alone does not establish horizontal pixels, refresh rate, HDR or an HDMI version.
Samsung QN55S95FAF lists these physical connections: Universal Serial Bus (USB),Other,RS-232,HDMI. For no picture or no signal, identify the actual connected input, select that input and try a known-working source/cable combination. A USB-C connector by itself does not establish video input or charging.
Adjust picture and audio settings for the room and source, changing one control at a time and noting the original values.

Separate picture, signal, and sound controls
TV settings act on different layers. Picture mode, brightness, color temperature, aspect ratio, motion processing, HDR, and HDMI input format affect how a signal is displayed. Audio output, eARC, digital format, and speaker selection affect where sound goes. Input renaming only changes the label shown in a menu; it does not change the port’s electrical capability. Before changing an option, identify the source and symptom and take a photo of the current value so you can restore it.
Match the input to the content path
Use the TV’s input selector to choose the socket the source is actually plugged into. If the screen displays “No Signal,” the TV may be on the wrong input or the source may not be sending content. If the picture appears only after switching resolution or refresh at the source, check the TV manual for that port’s supported modes. HDMI connectors can share a shape while supporting different feature combinations. Do not choose an HDMI enhanced-format option unless the connected device and cable support it.
Use test results before tuning
For Samsung TVs on supported menus, the manufacturer’s support article offers a Picture Test and Sound Test that can separate internal TV behavior from an external source. Those menu paths vary by model and software. If an internal picture test looks normal but a box image does not, inspect the source cable and output format. If the TV-generated sound test is clear while a receiver is silent, check receiver input and audio routing. A test narrows the failing path; it does not prove every port or speaker is perfect.
Reset only the setting tied to the symptom
A picture issue may justify resetting picture adjustments, while a network issue points to network status or Smart Hub. A complete factory reset has broader effects: it may erase accounts, tuned channels, network credentials, and customized settings. Samsung notes that its reset menu can vary and that reset is unavailable while certain apps are open; use that article only for supported Samsung models. For another brand, locate its model manual. Write down important settings before reset and test the same content afterward.
Preserve a useful setup baseline
When calibrating for a room, start with the TV’s normal picture preset and adjust ambient-light choices before changing advanced color controls. A change to brightness can affect visibility but is not a cure for missing signal. If subtitles or menu edges are cut off, inspect aspect ratio or screen-fit rather than sharpness. If an external source alone looks washed out, compare its video range and HDR settings with the TV input format. Keep a before-and-after image so you can return to the known baseline. Do not adjust color controls while a TV is in a showroom preset and then compare it with a second TV in standard mode. Use a consistent signal and mode for a useful comparison.
