Field notes · General owner reference
A part number is a starting point, not proof of fit.
Resolve model, revision, and substitution conditions before ordering a component.
Keep identifiers separate
The appliance’s model code, an OEM part number, and a merchant’s stock number serve different purposes. Match the exact appliance and any stated serial or production range to a documented fitment relationship. A product listed under a brand name alone is not sufficient.
Read substitutions in their stated direction
When a source says a new component replaces an older part, preserve that direction and any required kit or additional pieces. It does not automatically establish interchangeability in reverse. Similar appearance also does not establish electrical or mechanical compatibility.
Use evidence before a purchase
Open the exact model’s manufacturer resource or an authorized supplier’s variation-specific catalog. If the record is incomplete, keep compatibility unknown and ask the supplier to confirm it. A plausible diagnosis does not establish which component has failed.
