The dimension you need depends on the question.
Overall size, cabinet size, clearances, and door-open dimensions are separate measurements.
Keep the measurement label attached
A depth without doors is not the depth with handles. A shipping dimension describes the package. Overall width is not automatically the required cabinet opening. Keep the source label and units beside every number.
Make an installation checklist
Record the smallest opening measurements, required side/top/rear clearances, door and drawer movement, connections, and ventilation. Check the delivery route too. The applicable installation instructions determine the requirements; a retail size class does not.
A close number is not a fit guarantee
A 35 7/8-inch product and a 36-inch opening differ by 1/8 inch in width. That arithmetic does not establish enough clearance or door movement. If a mandatory measurement is missing, record fit as unconfirmed. Unit conversions also do not improve the accuracy of the original measurement.
