TK302III: model-specific checks
Match this thermal product’s media system
CUSTOM TK302III is recorded as Direct Thermal (DT). Establish whether its actual mechanism uses direct thermal media or thermal transfer before ordering supplies. Direct thermal uses heat-sensitive stock; thermal transfer uses a compatible ribbon and media. Zebra’s ZD421/ZD621 guide distinguishes these systems when investigating a blank label. On this model, follow its own loading diagram, print method and supported test-page instructions before changing software or buying a printhead. Compare media size, sensing arrangement and any ribbon requirement independently; a thermal-technology entry alone does not establish those specifications. Use only the documented cleaning method for its owner-accessible print path.
CUSTOM TK302III lists automatic duplex output as No. Check for a documented manual two-sided workflow if you need it; the source does not establish an automatic duplex paper path. A printer’s output duplex entry does not establish two-sided scanning.
Match media, cables, trays, supplies, and power accessories to the exact printer model.

Choose paper and media the printer supports
Check the model’s supported size, weight, finish, and feed path before buying photo paper, envelopes, labels, cards, or specialty stock. The manual may limit heavy media to a rear feed or single-sheet insertion. Confirm the printable side and orientation, then select the same paper type in the driver or control panel. Incorrect media settings can affect feeding and image application.
Keep paper sealed and dry. Humidity and curl can cause double feeds, skew, and jams. Do not load torn, stapled, or adhesive-damaged sheets.
Match cables and adapters to the connection
Use USB, Ethernet, or Wi-Fi based on the printer and host. A USB cable should be the type and length recommended by the manufacturer. For Ethernet, check the router or switch port and avoid running the cable where wheels or doors can damage it. Wireless setup may require the manufacturer app or a supported Wi-Fi band.
Do not buy a power adapter by connector shape. Use the supplied or model-approved adapter with correct electrical ratings. For a multifunction printer, check whether an external phone cable or fax line is actually needed; do not purchase accessories for a feature the model lacks.
Select replacement trays and document accessories carefully
A spare paper tray, duplex unit, ADF, or output finisher must be listed for the exact model and hardware revision. A visually similar accessory may not connect or be recognized. Check the official accessory list and installation instructions before ordering. Confirm whether the item includes guides, cables, covers, and fasteners.
If an accessory changes the printer footprint or weight, verify the stand and desk remain stable. Leave room for tray extension and access doors.
Store supplies and accessories correctly
Keep ink bottles, cartridges, toner, labels, and specialty media in their original packaging until use. Follow storage temperature, orientation, and expiration directions on each product. Store toner away from excessive heat and light-sensitive imaging parts as directed. Keep the correct power cord and USB cable labeled with the printer model so accessories are not mixed with another unit.
Before discarding packaging, verify that the printer prints and scans as expected and that return terms have passed.
Match paper handling to the accessory
Special media may require a rear feed, straight-through path, envelope slot, or manual one-sheet insertion. Check the printer’s supported media table and the accessory’s installation instructions. Labels can shed adhesive, envelopes can curl, and photo paper can have a printable side; use the media maker’s orientation plus the printer manual. Do not load a stack beyond the tray marker.
If adding an extra tray, duplex unit, or finisher, verify model compatibility and whether software must enable it. Print a configuration page after installation to check that the printer recognizes the accessory. Keep the original packaging and accessory code until the setup succeeds.
For a compact desk, fold trays and output supports only as the manual permits; do not operate with a tray omitted if the device requires it. Check that accessory doors close fully and that no cable crosses the paper exit.
