BE279QFK: model-specific checks
Use both product and source names
ASUS BE279QFK is listed under ENERGY STAR partner ASUSTeK Computer Inc.. Search support by the retail brand and full product code. The partner name helps distinguish the certification record from a similarly named product; it is not a declaration of the current warranty provider.
ASUS BE279QFK lists 1920 x 1080 pixels native resolution. Use that resolution as the first image-quality reference, then verify a supported refresh rate and the selected input. A lower source resolution may be scaled; a blank image may instead come from an unsupported timing or an input selection. The recorded pixel count alone does not establish HDMI bandwidth or gaming features.
ASUS BE279QFK lists Display,HDMI,USB,VGA. Choose the physical input in use and select that same input on the display. Test with a known-working source and cable before changing drivers or buying an adapter. Where USB-C appears, check video, data and power capabilities separately.
Keep monitor firmware, host graphics drivers, dock firmware, and OSD utilities on their own official update paths.

Distinguish monitor firmware from the graphics driver
A monitor firmware update changes software inside the display. A graphics driver update changes how the computer sends video. An OSD utility may configure brightness or input settings without updating either firmware or the driver. Identify which component’s problem is being addressed before installing anything. A monitor can show an image while its hub or USB-C features need a separate firmware package; a missing resolution may instead involve the computer driver or cable path.
Use the monitor’s exact model and manufacturer support page to check available firmware and compatibility notes. Do not install a package for a similar model or another region. Review the update instructions and supported operating systems before proceeding.
Use official update methods and stable power
If the manufacturer provides an update utility, follow its documented connection and sequence. Some firmware tools require a direct USB upstream connection in addition to the video cable; a dock may interrupt communication. Keep the monitor connected to stable power during the update and do not disconnect cables until the tool confirms completion. If the package says the monitor must be in a particular input or mode, use that exact procedure.
Do not try a firmware update as a general fix for a broken panel or missing power. If the monitor cannot display the update instructions or the computer does not detect it, contact support first. An interrupted firmware update can leave the display or hub functions unavailable.
Update computer software through its own support path
For missing resolutions, refresh rates, or USB-C display behavior, check the computer manufacturer’s graphics and chipset drivers. If a docking station sits in the signal chain, check its firmware and compatibility information separately. Dell’s USB-C troubleshooting notes illustrate that the host port itself must support video; software cannot add DisplayPort output to a data-only port.
Before an update, record current driver and operating-system versions and create a restore point where the platform supports it. Use the computer or graphics maker’s official downloads. If the problem began immediately after an update, record that timing and check for an official rollback or corrective release.
Verify the result one function at a time
After an update, verify video resolution and refresh first, then monitor USB hub, Ethernet, audio, or charging features individually. A firmware update may address one function without changing picture behavior. Check that the OSD still shows the correct input and that saved brightness or color settings remain as expected.
Keep the update file name, version, date, and result with the monitor record. If a problem remains, provide those details to support along with the model code, host, dock, cable, and port path. Do not repeat the same update or use a rollback package unless the manufacturer recommends it.
When a firmware update is not the right fix
If the monitor displays normally but a particular resolution is absent, verify the computer’s output and the cable/port path before updating monitor firmware. Firmware cannot make a non-video USB-C port carry video, and it cannot exceed the monitor’s documented timing limits. If the issue began after a graphics driver change, check the host manufacturer’s release notes and supported rollback guidance. Keep monitor firmware, graphics driver, and dock versions in separate records so support can see which layer changed.
